Finding the Austin Seven Comet Replica - Page 1
In approximately 2000, I was contacted by a woman in the UK, asking if I
could help her family friend, Hans who did not speak English and lived in
Switzerland. She asked if I could supply suitable drawings to reproduce a
replica of a rare 1934 Austin Seven Comet 65 that I had restored a few years
earlier. Initially, I dismissed the idea as a joke but after a number of
emails back and forth, I supplied very detailed information to her to
forward to her friend Hans.  At that stage, I never expected to hear
again about the replica of the Austin Seven being constructed in
Switzerland. After a number of years, I received a lovely thank you package
in the post from Hans in Switzerland!  Inside was a collection of
goodies including Swiss Chocolate, the biggest Swiss Army Knife imaginable
and some Cuban Cigars. Also included was a Swiss/German magazine from
Unterageri with a feature article on a person named Hans Bircher that had
just completed a replica Austin Seven Comet using information supplied by an
	Australian, Bruce White.
Last year, we were travelling in Switzerland and we contemplated the idea of
finding Hans to meet him and to see the replica.  Unfortunately we
didn’t have contact details so we could not find Hans and we gave the idea
	away.
Earlier this year a Swiss friend we met on Gili Air in Indonesia was
visiting us in Adelaide and she kindly offered to try to find Hans and the
Austin Seven replica for us. She corresponded in Swiss/German to the editor
of the original magazine which ran the article and contact was established!
So this year (2014), we again travelled to Switzerland and we finally met
Hans and his lovely wife Maria. Their friend in the UK acted as an email
translator to help make our visit with them happen.
We would like to thank the following people:
Maria Uhold (Hans’ UK family friend)
	Silvia Peter (our Swiss friend)
Vreni Mueller (a good friend of Hans and Maria) who translated for us during
	our visit to Unterageri
Hans and Maria’s son Andreas and his wife
And finally to Hans and Maria who treated us like royalty.

We had a wonderful time. Hopefully this German translation helps our friends in Switzerland

Zigarren.
Informationen vom Australier Bruce White finalisiert hatte.
